Terms of Use
The basic terms for using Scout — what it is, what it is not, and the ground rules while you use it.
Last updated: Not yet finalized
Accepting these terms
These terms cover your use of the Scout app and website. By using Scout, you agree to them. Scout is currently offered as a beta, so features may change. [REDLINE: confirm the contracting entity name.]
What Scout is
Scout is an AI farmhand. It reads your fields and gives you agronomic information and recommendations to help you run your operation, drawing on your data, weather, imagery, and regional agronomy.
Scout supports your decisions — it does not replace them
Scout's recommendations are informational and are meant to support your judgment, not replace it. You remain responsible for the decisions you make on your farm. Follow all product labels and applicable laws and regulations, and keep working with your own trusted agronomist, crop consultant, and other advisors. For decisions with legal, safety, or regulatory weight, rely on a qualified professional.
Your account
Keep your sign-in secure and let us know if you suspect someone else is using your account. You are responsible for activity under your account. [REDLINE: confirm eligibility/age and business-use wording.]
Acceptable use
To keep Scout working for everyone, do not:
- Use Scout for anything unlawful, or in a way that infringes others' rights.
- Try to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to Scout or its data.
- Upload content you do not have the right to share, or misrepresent whose data or fields you are entering.
Your data and content
Your farm data is yours. You give us the permission needed to store and process it so Scout can provide the service to you, including the AI processing described in the Privacy Policy. We do not claim ownership of your farm data. Any licensing of aggregated agronomic data happens only with your explicit, separate consent.
Subscriptions and billing
Scout subscriptions are purchased on our website. The mobile apps are for existing subscribers to sign in and use Scout; nothing is sold inside the apps. [REDLINE: confirm pricing, renewal, refund, and cancellation terms.]
Beta service — provided "as is"
Scout is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, especially during the beta. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about the accuracy or reliability of any recommendation, and Scout may change or be unavailable at times. [REDLINE: counsel to set the final warranty disclaimer.]
Limitation of liability
[REDLINE: counsel to draft the limitation-of-liability clause appropriate for an agronomic advisory product. This placeholder is not a binding limitation.]
Changes and ending your use
We may update these terms as Scout changes and will note when they were last updated. You can stop using Scout and delete your account at any time. [REDLINE: confirm suspension/termination terms.]
Governing law and contact
[REDLINE: set governing law and dispute-resolution terms.]
